They are purpose-built to carry lawnmowers, tools, whipper snippers, fuel cans and can be further customised to store specialty parts.
FELK Engineering aims to manufacturer lawn mower trailers that allow a landscaper to easily haul their entire business around with them. As with all FELK products, people buy them once – and buy RIGHT!
The below FELK Lawn Mower Trailer will allow enough storage to carry two whipper snippers, one push lawn mower, one ride on lawnmower, one waste bin and tools, however, this can be modified depending on the customers specific requirements.
These landcare trailers are commonly purchased as a fully enclosed trailer (picture below) as they offer maximum functionality, security & storage. Many gardeners fill these up with green waste, and the enclosed version will ensure the load is contained.
They are also available with in caged versions with high sides (520mm) however this is less common.
In terms of access, FELK Engineering recommends people obtain rear ramp access for ride-on mowers and front-side access for push mowers. This is adequate for most needs however can be altered at the request of a customer.
Lawn Mower Trailer FAQ
-
What are the recommended modifications for lawn mower trailers?
Most buyers elect to install a tool-box on the drawbar of the trailer. The trailer can also be modified to take extra whipper snippers if required.
Many modifications can be performed after the trailer has been constructed (though it’s much simpler to do it during construction). So if you’re unsure if you need additional storage, just do it at a later date.
-
How much vertical storage space is there inside the FELK Mower Trailer?
1450mm with the roof closed.
-
How often should I get my mower trailer serviced?
Generally speaking, once per year.
-
Can I hang items from the internal of the trailer?
Yes.
While there are dedicated compartments for the common items, like whipper snippers, hedge trimmers and pole chain saws, landscapers often store a variety of tools and would require extra hanging space. Custom brackets can be manufactured to suit.
-
What mechanism makes the roof tilt up?
This roof is raised by gas struts.
There are two toggles on the side that unlock the roof. There is a strap that will move upwards as the roof moves upwards. The user would pull the same strap to lower the roof.
-
Should I get a smooth or checker plate floor for my mower trailer?
For lawn-mower trailers, we recommend checker-plate for additional grip.
You may have read on our box trailers page, that we recommend smooth floors where possible (checker plate is more prone to physical abrasions), however, people walk through their mower trailer frequently, and there is more likelihood of slipping – so we use checker plate.
-
How are lawnmowers, bins etc secured inside the trailer?
The owner would use ratchet straps to the tie-down points and rails inside the trailer. Most people find this simple to use.
-
Can I use the trailer when it is detached from the tow vehicle?
Yes with stabiliser legs at the rear.
